I received a pull starter in a pack of old victa pull starters that has what I have been told is a rare automatic pull starter knob.
Any information or value would be greatly appreciated. If it is what I've been told then I'm keeping it to finish off my auto project. The pull starter has wire as its attachment not rope, if that means some
The last picture is of the mower I might buy as my automatic project too.
If the rubber starter is green then it's the rare original Auto handle the others being black , all the early starters have cables then I think 1959 went to rope start.
The value , I have seen people pay $25 . to around the 150 dollar mark for these starters ,I paid a little over $100. for an early auto starter that is different again to the starters you have here.
Thanks Max. Mine was the black pull cord with the wire not rope. The engine number is from a model 4 that was put on a model 5. I actually need another engine because I had promised this one to a mate.
So my mate managed to find 2 mint condition green pull cord covers this week. So yes I'm building an automatic and a model 4 and 2A. I'm restoring everything 2-stroke victa from the beginning up to about 86.
I just keep finding a part here and there for great cheap prices and all of a sudden I have three quarters of a model 2A a model 4 and a model 5.
They are %100 a victa green pull cord, with the wire cord. These were made with the original die cast. Both the green and black handels are made this way. So these are reproduction but made in the original way and as original as you can find!
Hi I'm going to be building a model 4 a model 5 and I want to do a 2A but may have to settle for a model 8. I have a bunch of serial numbers from engines available and I have no idea about these early numbers. So I was hoping Max or someone else might be able to help out by lettingme know if any of these numbers fit any of the 4 models above. Here are the numbers: 148074 279514 AC 28806 1076 IAAA 277530 181266 AC 46769 162496 217003 2BAB27730
I've got my model 5C now from those numbers. I'm sill looking for another automatic serial number because I sold the one I had to a mate just before I decided to do an auto myself
279514 Victa 18 Special 2nd series of alloy base (not the 4 bolt base which is the 1 st series ) 277530 217003
AC 28806 I've seen these on the last Victa 18 Special base with no edger slot and the 3rd base that's missing the mounts for flaps AC 46769 . 1076 IAAA
181266 Victa 18 Special 4 bolt base, 1st series alloy base ,has no bolts in side skirt mounting holes.Plastic Victa Special badge.
162496 In my opinion this was kind of the first Special but with alloy Auto badge ,has all auto parts except front and rear flaps and has manual throttle lever. I think these were built as an Auto but Victa may have recalled them and removed flaps or Victa sold them as a special but used up the auto parts on this model.
2BAB27730 not sure on that one ,I know 2BAD is model 8 .
IAAA1076 is a model 5c number which is the deck I'm doing a custom paint job on and the other deck shown here is my auto deck which is getting an original colour and parts (After market if I have too)
Not doing the model 2A for the moment because I made a deal with a mate that if I won a certain manual off ebay I would do the model the manual is for and that's a Standard or Model 8. So next fortnight I'm going to buy 1 or 2 model 8's and have a full original mint condition Standard.
Yeah I'm fine with, good, after market flaps. As long as they have been made to look and function exactly like the originals then I'll pay good money for good quality
Thanks Max, I do know about the person in NSW who makes them but they are still expensive and sought after. But this is hopefully who I will get my reproductions off.
I have one other question please Max. I have a bunch of older victa chokes. I'm looking for as much information on a couple of them the first one I know nothing about is an old style victa choke. It has the translucentish yellow but no markings anywhere, its on the far right in the first picture, the others are the black ones. I have 2 victa ones and one that I have no idea about.
(first image) First filter with run and start, 1962 to 1964 Victa Utility and Victa replacement part sold by Victa and Bynorm . The middle filter I've never seen before ,sort of looks homemade the top part . The yellow top one is an after market filter.
The 2 black air filters are about 1965 and later ,fitted to the Utility. (2nd image)
Well I need an upside down victa choke for my model 2 now 🤦â€â™‚ï¸
I did just win this lot on ebay pretty cheap tho. I like acquiring lots of stock because even in the 6 months I've been collecting things just come together without planning it. I can't wait to see just what happens in the next 6 months of collecting.
