Hi all
A mate of mine picked up a non running Tilt-a-Cut a couple of weeks ago.
Put a float needle (metal) and primer cap on it and it fired up but would only run for about 3 seconds and stop.
Modified carby and still the same, modified another carby and still the same. Tried different needles, caps, no change.
Changed the module, still the same, changed the coil still the same.
Pulled the head off, bore looks fine.
Threw another motor on it (regular PT off a mower).
The new motor savagely kicks back.
I'm thinking that the Tilta-Cut motor must have a heavier crank somehow. I know the older FC edger had a heavier flywheel, but did they do much to the PT?
Maybe need a bit of weight added like the super 24's with the PT?
Thanks

Swap flywheels, i havent had a powertorque one apart in many years but from memory they also have a heavier flywheel.

Thanks Joe, hopefully it comes off without too much of a protest
I guess another method could be using one of the round disc cutter blades

Just to follow up, the extra mass was just what the doctor ordered

They are ONLY for being mounted on a mower directly driving a blade disc. The days of them being used in various applications like the Victav power unit days were finished with the introduction of the Powertorque.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Ok to give an update, it turned out it is a FC TAC.
So Norm has turned up a 100mm x 5mm thick disc on the lathe weighing 290g. It sort of stopped the kick back, but then would still occasionally do it, but even increasing it to 1000 grams fitted on the crank it is still kicking back.
Anyone have an ideas - did the other heavier TAC flywheel slightly change the timing?
