Hello all
Seeking a workshop manual for a Morrison 400 if anyone can assist. Having just posted about a broken drive shaft on the QPE 55 engine I am also seeking help as to how to disassemble the clutch drive assembly ie. how to remove the sprocket drive?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello Paul and Max,

The 400 was made as as chain and then as a belt drive.

You mention 'sprocket' which indicates the earlier mower.

A parts list is here: -

Max has also posted some info.

I am not aware of any Morrison manual,
but a Masport manual may help [attached].

Any images will help here.

Good morning all. I seem to be peppering the questions at the moment but once again seeking assistance. The gearing profile on the side of the Morrison 400...... my query is if anyone can tell me if the 11 tooth gear at the top which forms part of the clutch assembly unscrews and is it a RH or LH thread?

Advice greatly appreciated.

Hello Silverleaf

The 11 tooth gear is considered a driving sprocket.
Because it is powered by a clockwise spinning engine,
the thread must be conventional RH.

Usually a pin punch is all that is needed.

Hope this helps.

Good morning
A new query. On the attached photo can anyone advise as to how to remove the bottom LH gear that drives the blades? Is it the same as with the clutch gear ie a LH thread?

Cheers

Paul

Hi Silverleaf

Yes, the reel sprocket is left hand.
In most cases, wooden block through the reel spirals to lock it.
Then use block of softwood and mallet on sprocket.

If stuck, use Plan B below.

Hi Jack
Further query - any idea where I could buy a replacement gear as the outer sprocket is quite worn?

Hi Paul
I don't know whether Masport have old stock.
I think it may be identical to the Ransomes one.
Surely they're available... mad

I can't help beyond further research.

Cheers

Sorry to hijack your thread but I'm wondering how do I remove the driving sprocket on my Morrison 500. I take the chain off but it just spins on the drive shaft.

Appriciate any assistance
