Applied Barricade a couple of weeks ago before the winter weed seeds germinate, will be interesting to see how effective this will be. Will report as the weather cools here.
Yes, I thought the same when I looked at the price but when I did my calculations it's a 25 - 30 year supply depending on applications per year so could justify the purchase ................................... if it works ! I think in this day and age you do get what you pay for but time will be the judge of this experiment. Good idea to get yours on asap as I was well advised that the dropping of overnight temperatures is what starts the winter weeds seed germination and unless it is applied prior to germination it will have no effect, like wise, it has no effect on any weeds currently growing. As for cheapskates, If it were an Olympic event I would be off to Japan to get my tenth consecutive gold medal, I love a bargain ! Had a really good downpour late morning, I think the big fella let 5 tears go for every poor bugger in India and other parts who are copping a pasting at present. Look forward to publishing the results of our pre emergents.
I was very careful when measuring out the Barricade, picking up, and putting down bottle, it was like handling a new born for the first time.
At least the rat didn't crawl into a hidy-hole and cause you months of grief.
Only have 6 roses and they are pretty average, that's a great bit of research on the thrips, I'll keep an eye on them. 2 of them have reduced in size greatly and now are dwarf like.
I went to get some barricade recently (perhaps it was another alternative in a 500ml bottle) but it was out of stock everywhere. So I used Oxafert - covers about 100m2 and is a pre emergent and fertiliser. Used it last season and it was quite effective, so happily used it again. I will reapply in another 4-5 weeks. Only $30, so cheaper up front, but not over the long run.

Prodiamine is an excellent pre emergent product. A few years ago I was lucky enough to get some into AU from the USA and it was the 65WDG - 65% active ingredient and it was about $150 for 5lb. I reckon I've got 20 years of pre emergent control, even after sharing to a few friends and family.. My application rate is 8g per 100m and I have not seen a whisper of winter grass in my couch for years. Yearly maximum is 1oz or 30g, so I split it into 4 x 8g applications ie: quarterly.
Doing the maths for Barricade at 48% concentration - you should only need 65/48 * 8g(ml) = 11ml per 100m - so I'm curious as to what the label recommends..
Waters in with half an inch of water and enjoy the clean lawn!
Morning everyone, just remembered I promised an update as well on the David Grays Product
Works a treat on the Winter Grass (not a spec of the few sprouts remain on the good lawn) and the spot sprays on the huge verge also knocked it out down there.
No effect on clover or nut grass. Will try the Buffalo Pro now its been a couple weeks since the last granular fertilise (311 baileys slow release to get it over the worst of winter) and a week since the mow.
