2-stroke mower addict!
So this is the engine I took off the powerplus base. It's a 1973 160cc engine with a G3 carby. What has me stumped at the moment is the metal shroud that is a dark red and has a special plark with some numbers and writing printed but the numbers 00195 stamped in to it. Which leads me to believe it's off a short release or special edition of some mower of its year. Does anyone know anything about any special edition 1973-74 release 160cc motors or models? The numbers match the serial number.....

Now I've been told that the hole in the red heat shroud is for a fuel tank and that person isn't sure yet but says it isn't a super 24.

That slot is for a bracket that holds a fuel tank. Maybe it was a multi use product.....

Yeah, so one guy said super 24 snd I looked them up and it looked correct but then another person pointed out the hole is for a fuel tank seat. So he doesn't think it's a 24. Im just not used to seeing a numbers matching little plaque on a heat shroud. Thanks speedy

Hi gents,
I can't explain why the cowl is red but the sticker plaque is not that uncommon on the earlier full cranks.
Having said that at least yours is matching numbers and more than likely original to the mower.

It's not original to the deck. It was a PowerPlus deck from 78-80 and a G3 carby on it with a serial number dating it to 1973.

Does anyone else have a heat shield with this serial number plaque that matches the number on the engine that they can post or at least comment about?

I appreciate your input bigted but if they are not that uncommon I'm sure someone on this forum would have one to post. Or have more information about the model they have with the same plaque.

Also the person who told me that the hole in it is for a fuel tank seat (not a member of this forum) is correct but I have a couple of shields with the slot but not being used for that reason. Which leads me to believe to save time and money all of the shields in this shape, no matter what model or set-up, have this hole.

Also the double zero, that isn't on the engine, makes me think it is a number starting from 00001 on the first one like this.

Cheers

SENIOR TECHNICIAN & HISTORIAN
G'day Sean and Ted

Ted is correct about the sticker with the engine number ,I've seen too many too.

I can't comment on the 109 code as I don't have an early Victa 24 mower that I can check the number ,all
the Victa 24 mowers I've had were side pull start ,I can check one anyway but may be different as the number system
changed in 1977.

You could just find someone selling an early 24 and ask them what the first few number are.

I think the idea of putting 0 's in front of numbers is so people cant add numbers to a serial making
the mower in this case a later model .If they make 99,999 mowers starting with the 109 code they don't want
people changing the serial by adding numbers if they didn't use 00 in front ,also it would make stolen
mowers harder to restamp. It could be the 195th mower in that model or the 1,00195 probably the later.

Cheers
Max.

Thanks Max and Ted!!!!!

I really appreciate all of the input. The red colour on the cowling is probably done by the previous owner as it hasn't stood up to the heat generated by the engine. Maxee Thanks for the picture mate!!!!! I haven't had many answers, besides Ted (Thanks again Ted), I just wanted to get it out of my head that I was sitting on something special or limited edition. You have done that for me!!! I will sleep better tonight knowing it's just another heat shield!!! I'm not joking either, I struggle to rest or sleep when my brain is trying to work out a puzzle, like this to me.

Still loving this forum and everyone on it!!! You're all awesome!

Cheers
Sean
