Take a look at this. Stumbled upon this year old YouTube video when searching for pictures of the VictaJet outboard.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

G'day Mowerfreak
That's brilliant!
NOS in carton is super rare.

The thing that I noticed was the lack of surface rust,
particularly on the fuel can.

The outboard must have been stored in ideal conditions.

Cheers

Hi CJ!
Finally someone acknowledges this extraordinary time capsule on here.

Flabbergasted at the lack of responses TBH. I thought I might have let a cat out of a bag or something similarly catastrophic.

I think the condition of the fuel tin and the condition of the box were the most striking things!

It's as though he just got it down at the local hardware store among the many others on the shelf. The way he tossed it around on the table and opened it added to this.

G'day Mf and Jack

Yeah already seen this video ages ago ,it was a great find though ,they do look super excited .

I wonder if opening the box devalues the outboard or will he just slide the straps back on.

I remember seeing an article that I think it was in the nineties and Greg Fleet (comedian) had a new old
stock Victa 18 in his living room , I remember seeing the picture of the mower and he said
the mower was still in it's box when he bought it ,must have been left in the store room for at
least 30 years, also I've spoken to someone who said they know of a new old stock
Victa Rotomo.

I don't think Greg would still have the old Victa now ,He said he knew his drug habit was getting out
of control when he went to cash converters and it looked exactly like his living room used to.

Cheers
Max.

Greg is a funny guy and unique and intelligent fellow. I always enjoyed his routine on TV.

I personally would open the VO box but would have been a lot more ginger about it!
At least his family clearly appreciated it.

I was wondering why you of all people hadn't replied. I thought maybe you dismissed it because it wasn't for mower use but surely not, just look at it's perfectly preserved condition.

You haven't seen this have you?

Morning MF,
I would have ripped it out of the box, and put it on my 48 year old De Havilland Topper, and run it in on the river.....
But My 3.5 HP Merc is good....

Nooooooo. You'd enjoy finding one and getting it going using your various improvisations. Much more satisfying.

I have no idea why it's taken so long for me to see this but it's worth the wait! It wouldn't touch the water if it was mine....
