MF I will ONLY use Aldi kitty liter as it clumps well and lasts......(I'm not sponsered by Aldi) Just threw out one of those chonda motors without a throttle, at least it got to a year old. I am keeping the base as it's perfect, going to put a Victa motor on it....... cheers speedy

I was wondering why anyone would spend $389 on one of these chonda tornado mdels when Joe Average looks to the next mower in the bunnings aisle and sees the Classic cut for $399 with the engine 'everyone' knows is the most reliable engine in history;
a briggs and stratton OHV (cue my uncontrollable laughter).
Joe Everage -Dame Edna's 3rd cousin- splurged on the fancy Thunder and now Joe's listed it on Commonertree for 3/4 the new RRP among the other 99 there.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
Only one I can remember was that it doesn't catch properly (in fairness probably the lawn they were mowing) and another with something wrong with the engine.
Then another saying it came in the box with the engine already half full of oil
Victa are, for the first time ever, putting a chonda engine on part of the 'flagship' Corvette range (beside mustang) available only through gold dealers.
The entry level 18in will have the 144cc chonda - priced about $60 below the regular Corvette 100
They are also doing a corvette version of the 16in with the 127cc
Why has Victa allowed themselves to be associated with such rubbish as a Chonda?? It’s such a rip off!! And to think that Chinese companies can profit and associate themselves with the good name and reputation of Victa is such a shame. Makes me weep.
Victa have now done an absolute 'transformation' on their premier range
Of the 12 Victa corvette range available through gold dealers there are:
2 Battery electric
7 briggs and stratton
4 Chonda
Additionally, 2/5 of the top line Mustang will have 170cc chonda
That means a third of the range is now Chonda powered. And in my view these ones are not good chondas either. There are good chonda like loncin and the V40 and sanli aren't awful.
Edit - it would appear there may be one B&S model missing off the website, so nearly a third
The sumec ancillaries seem very chintzy - starters easy to buckle, all generally plasticy, there is no microswitch for the kill wire - just a little exposed bit that looks like a miniature spoon that hits the throttle and kills it.
To be fair, briggs did the same, but when it bends and doesn't work after 5 uses there is a problem (seen 2x already)
These sumec made chondas "grace" every bottom dweller from bunnings yardking to mitre 10 yardforce and throughout the USA
Without getting political, Sumec is under direct control of the CCP which explains a lot

There is not much out there you could recommend to anybody looking for a mower apart from the $1100 Hondas. A few weeks ago I suggested one of these to a bloke and he nearly had a heart attack till I pointed out to him that it was costing him $100 to get his lawns cut. 11 mows and his mower had paid for itself.
