I picked up a Victa from my grandson tonight one of the last of the 2 strokes, says it has only had one tank of fuel in it, and I have this horrible feeling it has been straight fueled. He has several other 2 strokes, couple of PT's an 18 inch F/C slasher and a F/C 24 so he knows all about the fuel. I have done all my usual tests and with a puff of starter fluid I can't get the slightest attempted fire out of it. So far all indications point to me straight fuel but I will have another look in the morning, too disgusted tonight

NormK, how did it go? I think a good line is to tell them it's their oil supply and you wouldn't run your car without oil.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi Scott and MF, I jumped the gun on it because I couldn't get a murmer out of it with the starter fluid, no idea why. In the end I discovered the fuel tap would not let fuel flow through it, I could blow through it but couldn't get fuel through it, got my son to check it as well, I couldn't work it out. Then the float needle was stuck so new tested float and primer cap and it fired up. A lucky save when I had thought the worst

Hi Norm, Scott & MF, Norm, You know you kept the possums up late with this worry. I didn't sleep either ...
Wouldn't the starter fluid have bypassed a faulty fuel tap? The naughty needle would have been bypassed too!
Do you have advice to folks here? Folks on this forum listen to your every word.
Cheers and thanks for helping others.

Hi Cyberjack, MF and Scott
I think Norm is currently busy deeply contemplating having to retest the pile of other PT's which also didn't peep with a shot of ether.
Is the port scavenging that poor on these that half it gets blown out the exhaust before it can be ignited?
Maybe a thimble full of liquid 2 stroke mix might be better for this purpose
Good seeing one of the final 2 strokes being used
Wonder how many will spend eternity in the box?
I personally would have bought 2 - but couldn't justify it at the time; and still can't when you can still readily buy lightly used alloy deck models with the VSX engine for no more than $300

Hi Jack, I thank you for your concern about my ongoing possum problem. At the moment it seems the dog is winning, I'm hopeful they have started to realize it just isn't worth the hastle of being chased from the yard every time they come in. He races out and barks at them and most of the time in the middle of the night I don't have to go out and drag him back inside. As for the PT not wanting to fire I have no idea, except that maybe I had 2 dud plugs and the third one worked. Swapped then around so much not sure if that might have been the cause. I wouldn't expect 2 dead new plugs in a row. Hi Tyler No I'm not going back through the 50 odd dead PT's here, I still have 50 running ones here to deal with. I was a bit sad when my grandson too it out of the box to use but it had no emotional connection to him, just another mower. I guess kept in a box for the next 50 years they might be collectable. I forgot to ask him if he kept the box, that might be worth something in 50 years Apparently it also came with the rear sidechute we were discussing a few days ago.

Thats good Norm, probably very few are alive in the 50 anyway
I think they still sell the supachute - plastic adjustable plug in conversion
