Hi guys. I recently broke off the breather tube on my 5hp Briggs Quantum and can't find where I put it. Can anyone tell me how important it is and if it will effect the performance if not replaced. I can't justify spending $40 on a piece of tubing 3 inches long. Thanks
Just thought I'd post a picture of what has broken off. Not sure if a piece of garden hose will work. Guessing it's 5 to 10 mm in diameter. Can anyone tell me what function of the breather tube is. ie, what's it for?
Hi Dave, That is the breather tube, takes crankcase gases back to the carby inlet so they ban be burnt. It is needed to maintain negative crank pressure otherwise motors will pump oil out at every joint. Plenty of those here if you want one
