G'day all

There is a Villiers Torque Major De - luxe motor which has an under base muffler ,I think
this motor is from around 1968 -1969 ,but what I don't understand is why I have not
seen many of this model around .

I probably have at least 20 Torque Major mowers but only one with the under base muffler and
I have never seen another one apart from the ODK repair and parts brochures from Jack.

My memory is that I have only ever seen these engines with
a Villiers above deck muffler.

Your fantastic images explain how the exhaust was
ported downwards.

I can't answer this question ... why this version is so rare.
I guess it is easy to speculate ... cost?, fashion?

I have a few pre 1968 with mufflers discharging exhaust gases under the base it's just
that I never see any others with the under base muffler.

As far as I know the Torque Major engines exhaust was exited under the base up until
1970 then they only had the above deck muffler discharge.

In the later half of the sixties the Villiers Torque major came with above or below base exhaust
discharge.
