Hello all

I have accumulated 3 sb 45's, well 2 and a rover 45 ( kermit green model ), all good mowers and I've just fitted and new engine to one of the earlier ones. I need to decide which one to keep. What I noticed is that the rover has a much faster land roll speed ( with lever fully engaged ) than the other 2 which is not to my liking. Is this a sign of general wear in the other 2 which will slowly reduce land roll speed over time ?
Reading information on the site indicates you can regulate the speed by slipping the clutch by not pulling the lever all the way up. I think I would find it difficult to maintain the exact lever position I would like while using the machine. Can you adjust the cable so it only engages the clutch to the desired setting with the lever fully engaged ?

Cheers

Hello wce
My understanding is that SB45 and Rover 45 have similar transmission ratios.
Of course you can adjust the clutch cable to reflect your preference for
desired speed at full trigger.

I do not recommend that, as the other variable is engine RPM.
The hair-trigger is most rewarding when you set RPM to desired full engagement.

It's poignant that Scott Bonnar used the metaphor of the Colt pistol in
original advertising. It was always about finesse of feel.

I personally don't like full engagement at full trigger deflection.
It feels like a wet bus ticket.

I set full engagement at about three-quarter trigger.

Cheers
