Hi N1KK0, the 24's are my favourite mower, not much of a project though should take only a few hours to mount a 24 to the front of a quad bike. As you say bit cheaper than a Grillo. And the quad bike need only be a small cc one, even those 125cc Lifan motors have plenty of punch and you are only operating at low speed

I know pal - rest assured I'm in no doubt of that and ever since you recommended them to me a number of times I've made sure to check local sales etc for one.
I think it's a great little idea and I hope Max manages to get one and put on the front - seems an upgrade in a nnumber of waysto whats already a good idea of his.
Now I'm thinking, I have a mini bike here I built for my so probably 10 years ago and after it did a big wheelie and dumped him on the ground it has just been sitting here, might be a good starting point, I also have an Anniversary Greenie here and it would be simple to fit the rear axle into the bike and then it would be a trike. Then just a case of working out how to steer it. Might try steering wheels out the front. I have a number of 24's here to play with mounting it
I thought about using the Victa 24 but I have a lot of trees and bushes that I mow between so the 20 inch mower I have works better for me, the idea of the mower at the front of the quad bike doesn't work for me as it's dry and dusty here and mowing at the front would just be putting dirt in your face , a few people see my tow mower and say it's backwards because it's being towed and mowers don't work that way but when you look at the discharge port on my mower you will see I've now got the handle bars at the front of the mower.
I don't think it's worth making a trike or a quad bike when you can just buy a quad bike for $150 ,I often see them very cheap around a $100 , the one I have I was given for free and spent $50 on parts .
Hi Max, makes sense to put the slasher behind the quad bike and that makes it so simple, the 24 just becomes a trailer with the front of the slasher with a tow ball on it. So simple the tow slasher idea has been around for a long time. Just have to make up a towbar for the quad and it needs to be adjustable to adjust the cutting height. The rear can still be adjusted using the height adjuster. So simple and this is the ultimate low cost/maintenance ride on
Hi Max, I was thinking the front wheels would need to be removed on the 24 or turned into swivels so it would follow the bike, either way no big deal and I think this is the best solution for anybody wanting a lightweight,low maintenance smaller ride on
The swivel wheels at the front would make the mower turn easier but I'm not convinced they are necessary as the 24 doesn't have steering standard and the 24 front wheels are about the same size as my 20 inch tow mower ,the mowers don't have a problem slightly skidding across to turn a bit like a four wheel trailer when it turns except mower wheels are a lot smaller than trailer wheels and the much lighter mower turns without a problem,the front of a 24 if fairly light I don't think it would have a problem slightly dragging to turn.
The tow mower can be a lot bigger if necessary ,nothing stopping you towing 2 or 3 mowers or using a 38 inch mower deck off a ride on to make a tow mower.
A lot of the tow mowers I see don't need steering.
Yes I see N1KK0 has plenty of options to think about now, I think these are much better maintenance/cost wise compared to a ride on mower, as they are generally pigs to work on and expensive if you can't do the work yourself
I wouldn't mind getting the Colt but don't have the room at present.

Much thanks Mich, its about a 4hr round trip from me - definitely good value for someone - I'll hold off at present as not sure I am down for another fixer-upper BUT I think it's a good looking restoration project for someone as seems all mechanical etc is ok - just needs a seat and some paint etc.
