Hi guys hoping someone can givr a lead to the location of new points and condensors for the early victa 18. Late 50's 125cc. Im a car mechanic prefering to leave things original. Had a good mower and pulled a second down aswell to make one really good one to fire up every so often. Runs quite well but would like to renew these items if available. Have so far found a lot of other parts just not these. If unobtainable a suggestion is to convert to electronic which is a good idea too but last resort. If anyone can help would be greatly appreciated.

As I said RustyNuts I have probably 15 new condensers and 2 sets of points I saw the other day but I refuse to use Aus Post so if you have another suggestion I can send them to you.

Hey Norm. Yes I do appreciate that; I felt from your first responce you suggested you may possibly have had somewhere but kinda seemed more keen steering me to modify and so I thought Id try again in the "wanted" section i found here. I would happily purchace these if your happy to help. I have left the mower all together so havent seen the parts as yet to identify. But its definately late 50's. I can take a picture of it in coming days and send your way to identify further to clarify. Im seeing you are in melbourne if this is correct so not far. I will in coming days find a couple of mailing options. What suburb are you in and i make sure the post company works your way. Dan

Hi Rusty,
I'm in Hampton Park in Melbourne, I have a real hatred of Aus Post but I repair our posties mowers because he mows lawns after he finishes his rounds. And the postie before I repaired his mowers as well. I hate the fact that they charge a min of $8.50 for the smallest item, cut deliveries to 2 days a week and pay their head honchos many millions of dollars a year and give watches to their friends

Gday NormK once again. Appologise I have taken my time with a lot going on. My partner and I are prepping to have our first child and days ago I attempted on here to communicate with you but couldnt send my over sized picture. So I have that sorted and I hope that comes through to you Norm. A bit of research came up with you have a 'Pack and Send' distributor 2/100 Hallam S Rd, Hallam Vic (ph 0397964100) and I have one near Pack and Send 17 Main Rd, Moonah 7009 (ph 0362280505)... Let me know if this works for you. I looked on maps and figured it wasnt a long way from you however you be the judge of that. If that works I can transfer money for the items. I'll send the pic through you best identify the common victa 18. Im thinking 57 to about 60 yr???

Hi Rusty,
that Pack and Send is only a few minutes away. I guess it wouldn't be any cheaper than AUS Post but I will check it out. As far as I know Victa only made one set of points and condenser before they went electronic

Hi Rusty, just took the points and condenser down to Pack and Send, he said about $45 to send. I guess they are not trying to compete with Aus Post

Yeah wow thats well more than double i expected. I may have to go with that if it is an option. I will first compare a couple prices my end since thats a bit of a blow out. Next lets confirm what you would like for the two items Norm. And I'll get back to you. I appreciate you going to that effort norm

Boy this sounds like the USPS and UPS here. Large companies get cheap rates and then the small companies and individuals have to pay an arm and leg to ship something. This why I quit trying to sell on RipBay, just couldn't justify the shipping costs.

I'm guessing Aus Post would be $8.50 because that seems their minimum charge

Hey Norm. Yes i ducked in myself to pack n send here to compare and I actually got a $70 quote and told it would be cheaper if done online and a courier picked it up. But still nothing like australia post. They were a block away so poped there and yes $9.20. Im happy to continue but need you on my side. I cant work with $45 or more to send. Have you seen my mower in the attachment? Its late 50s you agree?

Hi Rusty,
I noticed somebody on ebay saying that postage was costing $9.20 so that looks like that might be their new min charge. I did see your mower somewhere but I didn't look that closely but probably late 50's early 60's

G'day Rusty and Norm

You can still buy a condenser on eBay and then just file the points .

Hi Max,
I would have at least 10 condensers here but only a couple of sets of points

Hi Norm

About 2 years ago I went to at least 6 mower shops around here and bought the last of their condensers ,
I only ended up with 2 condensers and was told that's all they had ,these days it's easier to convert to
electronic.

Cheers Max.

I would never bother fitting points and condenser, that is why they are still sitting here
