Hello ODK history lovers
The larger mower-making firms employed professional
photographers to record their mowers for the production of
catalogues, brochures, magazines, and newsprint advertising.

Morrisons employed Lovell-Smith Photography of
Heretaunga Street West, Hastings. Morrisons must
have supported other local businesses.

The first one I present here is a superb image taken in
Cornwall Park …

The glass plate negative, held by Hastings’ Knowledge Bank,
caption reads: -

Duncan Henderson, foreman of Morrison Motor Mowers
Limited, Karamu Road, Hastings (where Gull petrol station is
Located in 2017, in Cornwall Park, about 1945-46.

Mower is Model C Prototype – not used in production, MK1
motor and the catcher is attached differently to the standard
model.

I am not convinced the above comments are correct.
The Model C did use this catcher attachment system.

PART TWO – Three Cornwall Park Images
These three images were most probably taken on the same day.
[The evidence says same identical mower to the Photo above.]

Here, they depict three separate female models posing with another
model … the Morrison Model C.

This was powered by a Villiers 98cc Midget MK1.
Note that the starter (lanyard) is located out of view on the
PTO side of the motor.

A big thank you to Hawke’s Bay Knowledge Bank for making
these images available to the public.
