Wow Tyler that is a strange model. Forgetting the unusual top with no vents for cooling, I have never seen a blue Pace steel deck, only the thumb latch high arch alloy base. That must have been the successor.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
I like the SPFC Corvette style top and it would lift the appearance of the Pace steel deck mower which was obviously aimed as a lower to medium tier mower as was it's predecessor with the alloy thumb latch base with nylon bearing wheels and 160 cup start motor. I know which I'd prefer though.

I've never seen a super start label on a Powertorque before. This suggests they are from the era where SPFCs were being sold alongside PTs as they were being phased in as the standard 2 stroke motor in the 83-84 period.
Is that a puzzle MW? I fail to see any difference.

I haven't kept a lot of info on this Pace with a Power Torque ,I'm sure I've seen a few and thought I had seen an ad but did not keep the images ,the twin grip catcher if original would also be a clue .

Super Start is mentioned in the 1983 Victa Catalogue in the write up on the Power Torque motor, it just refers to the electronic ignition as you would know Mf. It definitely looks an early model Power Torque.
I just noticed the mistake Jack has on this Victa Brochure " I date this full-colour, full-range brochure to 1984-85"
I managed to get a pic of the 1983 Sabre with a Power Torque motor and it has the Super Start sticker but obviously not the exact same Super Start sticker that the full cranks had and the Pace mower above.
Hello maxwestern and all, both these labels signify the passing of the baton from the side pull full crank to the newly introduced Powertorque engine which had electronic ignition standard unlike the outgoing full crank. They were being sold in an overlapping fashion where there was a period they were both available on new models at the same time. Whether the full cranks were still actually being made or inventory of existing full cranks were being sold is unknown. The use of SS on various labels for the PT likely indicates the exact period they were sold at the same time.

I'm not sure how many of the 83 Power Torque mowers had the SS mentioned on a sticker ,I think the 1983 Vortex had SS on the sticker too , The 1983 Super Start module for the Power Torque is a bit on the large side.
Can anyone give a basic rundown on the differences in how the electronic ignition module functions over the condenser and points? All I know is there's a lobe toward the top of the crank shaft that operates the points.

MF, it is all to do with the clever electronics in the module. As you know the cam lobe, points and condenser become obsolete once you fit a module. Electronics can do amazing things as we are well aware of in our everyday life these days, just think of what your phone can do and don't ask me to explain how they work either. Then you can have Alexa on your phone to do a million things, hard to work out where we are heading with all this artificial intelligence so your little module on the mower is really in the lower end of the scale of smart things now
