How are others getting on with deliveries from Aus Post. In Vic we are being told that our mail deliveries are now every second day, what I haven't been able to work out which every second day. Seems to me to be they now only come once they have enough mail to deliver in an area on particular day. I ordered some fittings from an ebay seller in Dandy South and have now been waiting 15 days. I could have walked to the seller and picked them up in half an hour. I think I will have to start asking sellers if they are going to use Aus Post and if so I won't order from them. I do this with anybody using Fastway Couriers as well
Hi Norm Aus Post has done for mail and parcel delivery what myxomatosis did for rabbits.
The highest paid public servant in AUS is the CEO of ... you guessed it. Yet, my continued experience - for many years - is poor delivery times. They are a law unto themselves, and they will hide behind a pandemic as an easy excuse.
Funny how they were crying poor and cut black the hours and never doing deliveries on the weekend... Which is actually pretty strange. I mean we are not all home and able to be there as not all postage is safe drop. That being said it took a world disaster for aus post to get a kick up the you know what! And we'll..... Have they performed well? No major company in my eyes with all the money and government support should be using high volume work loads as an excuse to not have an item derlieved within a reasonable time frame as expected. They have the biggest and greatest project management teams and all the resources they need to be equipped for whatever they have to take on board. And yet here I am waiting for mower parts from the other side of vic for 3 weeks..... Excuses? Nupp. Major companies should neve use work loads as an excuse. Employ more people, create new strategies. Create a system that works...
Norm ,I would not use a courier,I had one parcel that ,Aus Post took 16 days to get it a distance of one and a half hours ,I just used a courier and that took 22 days just to pick up the parcel and I rang them multiple times and they would ring saying it would be picked up on certain days but it wasn't ,with Aus Post tracking at least if your parcel takes too long you can message them online to go and find it ,the other day when I had to ring them it was a half hour wait to speak to them.
Hi Max, I don't know if you have noticed there is some bloke around Casey who is selling stuff on Gumtree stating he will not post, too many things gone missing, damaged, taking too long to arrive. Not good for a company that has a monopoly, is government funded with the CEO being the highest paid public servant in Aus and postage costs in Aus astronomical, and their service is becoming appalling
No I haven't noticed that guy on Gumtree who won't post items, so far I haven't had too many problems with Aus Post as long as I have tracking, even if you have a problem they will compensate you up to $100 and paying extra cover will compensate you up to $5000..
The damaged parcels reminds me of this clip below.
I'll have to say that over the past year or so I've been using "Interparcel" opposed to AP. Generally the cheapest option ends up being "Couriers Please" and every now and again "Startrack" (AP) and to date I've found that they are far more reliable and much quicker than AP has ever been.
I sent a 15Kg carton (500mm x 500mm x 400mm) to Sydney from Adelaide and for a figure of $18 and bugger me it was there already by 10.00am the next day as I received a photo from the receiver of the carton totally unmarked. I could never complain with that sort of service. From that point onwards I've never used AP again apart from small padded bag stuff.
Cheers, BB.
I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.
Yes it's mostly Victoria that has major delays at the moment ,the courier that took 22 days just to pick up in Victoria was" Couriers Please". I've also found on occasions a courier company is no cheaper than Aus Post .
I ordered some filament for my 3D printer from Perth and had it in 9 days, I ordered a book from Victoria which took 19 days very frustrating.
I must say the priority paid does work, I posted a couple of parts I had 3D printed to Brisbane, I then reprinted them using a different filament (which is stronger) I used priority on the second post and they both arrived on the same day.
It was over a week for the first post and 3 days for the priority, I am in Gol Gol which is about as far away as you can get westward from Sydney so am not sure what route it took.
G'day Beech and freight story tellers From all that folks say here it appears that freight is inconsistent. That's my experience too ... good stories & bad stories.
For me AUS Post has been a disappointment, overall.
AUS Post's charter was always for all Australians. What it has become is a classed-based service.
Folks pay more for what everyone was getting just a few years' ago. What a shame and disgrace!
We now live in the age of the 'upgrade' What a joke!
Everyone seems to have a horror story.
. . .
Beech, whenever I hear a place name that is unknown to me my ears [Censored] up..
Welcome the folks of Gol Gol! That's a pretty place in AUS ... the great Mildura region.
This is my latest outburst at Aus Post after they sent me an email yesterday saying that an item being sent from QLD was being delayed because of the "virus"
Why the hell don't you people just get on and deliver the Poo you are paid to do instead of blaming the corona virus for your inability to just deliver parcels as this is what you are supposed to do. You cut down on delivery days while that bitch running Aus Post is the highest paid public servant in Aus. I guess she should tip a bit of her outrageous salary into getting your service back up to a standard that the Australian population expects of a monopoly government funded service. Have a nice day. Norm Keen
Yes Aus post have a few problems with less flights and with social distancing they have to employ less people ,then all the time wasted on cleaning between shifts in Melbourne .
Patterson Lakes is 18 ks from my place , 16 days so far and still waiting, same from South Morang, maybe about 25 ks and 16 days so far, wonder if I have to wait another 9 days so it will have traveled 1km per day. Aus Post are really up to the task, not
And there is the other side to all this and it is obviously all about the money. I ordered a new phone on Sunday afternoon and it arrived before lunch today, so it can be done
Parcels in Vic go to NSW then the parcels are sorted in NSW and then they go back to VIC where they started this takes about 14 days then up to 7 days more to deliver from what I have seen watching the tracking .
If you want a parcel delivered quicker buy from NSW that only takes about 9 days at the most , I have parcels sent from VIC to NSW not the other way around but watching the tracked parcels sent from VIC to other states they arrive quicker than sending a parcel from VIC to VIC.
That's strange you got a delivery quickly ,although they did say mail was prioritized so I guess if it's from a big company it arrives quicker ,I've heard Amazon stuff is quicker in Vic.
