That is fine Jared, as you say with the small wires one to ground one to positive from the ignition switch. If the motor keeps cranking when you have let the ignition switch go, only 2 causes,ignition switch is not returning from the start position (faulty inside) or the solonoid is faulty, but I think from memory you bought a new one so I don't expect this as the problem
