Hi All I'm new to the forum and to mower restoration, but I have somehow landed myself with a challenge in the form of a very sorry Victa 3012. I am currently in the strip down and assess stage but would like some advise as to the best way to remove the engine pulley from the drive shaft? Any advise would be appreciated.
I think this would be a good place to document the rebuild process and ask questions as I go.
Here is a link to the parts list CLICK HERE which shows you that the pulley has a bolt holding it onto the engine shaft. Normally you just undo the bolt and it should slide off.
Well I managed to get the spindle off with a puller, and continue with the disassembly. The chassis is now 80% broken down into component parts with only a couple of hours more work before I can start the cleaning stage. Biggest problem is the mower deck, which has suffered from rot, but I am also unable to disassemble the main spindle assembly.
JD, While you have the motor out, cut a hole in the deck so that you can fit and remove the motor with the pulley fitted. Makes it a lot easier than struggling to get the pulley off in position
