Hello
ODK History Lovers
News Cuttings was Victa’s official news publication to its dealer network.
Introduced in the late 1950s, it would be no more than a few pages in length.
This
late 1962 issue is of particular interest in that there would be
two November 1962 News Cuttings! Is that possible? … Yes!
The reason – says Victa – was the later than usual release of the new
rear-catcher 1963 Victa models – The
Ambassador and
Viceroy.
That is all explained in the second edition for the spring of 1962 [linked below].
It was critical Victa got the news to dealers before summer.
This does not mean this first edition was a mere filler – to bide time.
Far from that! It is a retrospective though; in covering the State shows
around Australia. We also learn who was Victoria’s first dealer. Of course,
there is the obligatory stories of the new
Airtourer.
Dealer community news included stories from the Adelaide suburb of
Campbelltown, A nice story from Toowoomba and Nuss and Sons, and a bit
of sport from WA. Then there’s the story of ‘The Monster’ from Bundy.
Everything is big in Queensland … apparently ...

The last page has the usuals, but also some great images of a Waltons Ltd
visit to the Milperra factory. Some folk will find
Victa Servicing Guide No 8interesting, involving a modification to the early side-discharge catchers.
All-in-all, a good read!
