Hi all, I have a 1964 Rover with a 4hp engine on it. It has been sitting idle for about 6 years and starts with a bit of prompting by adding fuel direct to the carburettor but stops after fuel is used, so I suspect that carby needs a good overhaul. Does anyone know where I can get the bits and pieces needed to give this carby a bit of an overhaul. I think the model no is 108902, the other numbers on the cowl are 0245-01 and (I think, a bit obscured) 6810090. I have also enclosed a photo, any assistance appreciated. Thank you.
I believe you are slightly misreading the model number 108902. When I up the type number it shows a 100902-0245-99 (trim codes before 1983 are all now combined under 99). The date code indicates it is a 1968 manufactured October 09.
The carburetor repair parts needed are still readily available here and should still be in Queensland too.
Carburetor to tank gasket is 270073 and the diaphragm pump gasket is 270026. You also may need the pickup tube(s) if they have broken off. PN 391813 for 2 and 3 quart tanks and/or 296811 (superseded to 497413S). The carburetor itself is no longer available.
MickyD, I've found that a light wire brushing, followed by a rub with chalk and a quick wipe off with a rag makes these older Briggs numbers much easier to make out.
Cheers, Gadge
