I am in the process of restoring a Morrison Reel Motor Mower - 1954??? and looking for a couple of missing parts,

1. Chain Case - Part No. 585 with Morrison name on side
2. Centre Guard - Part No. 592

Would appreciate assistance in sourcing these parts.

Thank you.
Ross

hi flyerross

looks like your restoring a rare mower

I hope someone here on the forum has the parts your after

if you have no luck you might have to make the parts your self or may be a friend that has a welder

might be able to help you

some times you have no choice but to make the parts if they cant be found

part 592 looks to be not to hard to make maybe 1mm to 2mm thick sheet metal cut and folded

part 585 is harder to make but still doable

it would have been made by a large press making it in one go from one piece off metal

it would need to be made in two separate parts maybe 1mm thick sheet metal bent to form the

sides and another piece cut to shape to form the top .then mig or tig welded together

after welding grind welds away and finish polish with a flap disc and then make small tags for the

mounting bolt brackets and weld them on

the morrision letters could be made with stickers of the right size

it would be easier if you had parts to copy for sizes .

just a thought anyhow if you cant find parts good luck cheers2

Hello Flyerross and Freebird

These are not rare; but not common either.
I have written about them here:
https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=68453

I have contacted an experienced NZ collector who said:-
I have a couple of surplus Morrisons, but the one with the parts he requires is probable
too good to scrap. These mowers are plentiful over here, Ill keep a look out for parts.

Because of the complexity of the chain guard, it is better to just
wait it out - but monitor both AUS and NZ auction sites.

I am convinced these parts will be found.
It just takes time and luck.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jack,

Thanks for your latest post and your enquiries on my behalf for the parts I am seeking.

It is encouraging to find out that NZ still have quite a few of these old Morrisons around.
Possibly given a bit of time I may be lucky.

You mentioned auctions, would you please be able to let me know of any contacts/sites you may have for these.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards, Ross

Hello FlyerRoss

Yes, this was a great and successful model by one of the top-two
NZ lawnmower makers of the day.

The No 1 NZ auction house is:- http://www.trademe.co.nz/

But these machines do show up every year on AUS auction sites.
Good luck with finding these parts to finish your resto!

Please keep us informed of any progress.
We love happy endings here.

Ross,
Do you still require a chain case and centre guard ?
