Hi Sherrie, your call doesn't seem to make a lot of difference, turning the fuel of before stopping, what that does is it gets you in a routine of turning the fuel off. Now that you have a needle that actually shuts the fuel off I(something Victa was never able to achieve because they cheaped out with the rubbish plastic needle) you now have a much better chance of not getting caught again with a flooded motor .If you had come here six months ago we could not have offered you the new needle, you would have had to buy 10 of the plastic rubbish and hope you got one that would work. I started modifying Briggs and Stratton needles, these were better than the Victa but were still a bit problematic but these new viton tipped ones are brilliant.

Hi Sherrie. It's a shame others would write the machine off and go hunting for a cheap new four stroke replacement that will fail in months. You have the best mower engine in the world and have now made it even better through research and making enquiries through the miracle of the internet. NormK in particular has further cemented my faith in the Victa two stroke and it's performance and durability. It's so tragic to think how many of these fine Aussie machines have been needlessly disposed of due to a tiny part like a plastic needle and the false perception that four strokes are the only way to go. Nothing is as robust and gutsy as the loud and sporty two!

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi NormK - you've got no idea how pleased we were when she kept going, it's so good. Thanks for your reply regarding the fuel, that's good, as I wanted to get it right, so now, I know. Thanks again.

Hi Mowerfreak, Hey you're not wrong. Last Wednesday, we came across exactly the situation that you are talking about. Owners of a 2 stroke, had had it for years, it always went well, then it stopped working, so they purchased another mower. At that stage we were just learning and gaining the knowledge on how to get our Edger going. I really enjoyed reading your message, and having the reassurance that the 2 Stroke was so worthwhile. NormK, yes he's a wealth of knowledge, and it's so pleasurable to know that like you, and NormK, there are people out there that are willing to help. Mentioning the Internet, this may sound odd, but I had to check out Youtube, to then work out where the Carbi was located and how it worked, and then I spotted the Needle, and as they said on Youtube, to correctly place it, the Needle has to be placed pointy end down. Don't you love the Internet !! I agree, it's amazing what we can all learn. I've just posted a new Thread, about our Chainsaw, so hopefully I'll be about to work through this question also. Thanks again for your support.
