The clutch corks on my Greenfield are well past their use by date after years of heavy duty mowing and towing.

The drive pedal engages forward drive with the pedal close to the horizontal, which becomes very painful to operate! I've tried turning the adjuster underneath next to the engine but I can't bring the pedal back far enough so I presume the problem is due to worn out cork linings.

Are the corks still available?

Also, what is the best glue I should use to attach the cork to the disc?

I have plenty of the Heiniger Emery Glue that is used to attach the emery cloth to shearing comb & cutter grinders. Would that work? It is applied as a PVA style glue onto the steel or alloy disc and the emery cloth is placed on top & then clamped overnight. The old glue peels off like RTV sealant.

LRT, have a look at the hole the rod goes through on the bottom of the pedal, you might find the hole has slotted and this is where you are loosing your adjustment, or on the other end of the rod. When you have the rod out of the foot pedal pull and push on the rod to see what movement there is, remembering that if you push to hard you will actually move the arm that that engages the clutch from forward to reverse and vice versa

Thanks Norm I'll have a look. No doubt it will be worn - you should see the steering!

LRT, you are right there the steering design was not one of their finer points, on my mates I fitted ATV tierod ends on all the steering parts and fitted pillow block bearing on the shaft under the triangle. Works well but a massive amount of work

Yes Norm both Cox & Greenfield could have spent more time on the steering I think. Sure you can easily reverse but it gets pretty tiring when mowing an orchard. AMC managed to do it but have now sadly gone under. It's interesting to note that some of them use a Greenfield drive system - I wonder how that came about?
