My friend bought over his Rover Sprint, it has a 4 stroke B&S 375 quick start engine. Family: YBSXS.1581VA 274460.
Said whilst mowing he heard a bang from the engine and then it stopped and wouldn't restart.
I had a quick look and found there was no compression at all when pulling the starter cord, then checked the oil level, it was bone dry.
Question, is it even worth pulling apart to check the damage (economical wise)or do I just accept it is DOA,as I have a better 4 stroke in the garage that he can have for $80 and just keep this one for spares.
Thanks Buckets

Hi Buckets, not worth even thinking about it but good for parts, the carby/fuel tank, coil, pull start always very handy to have, the rest is scrap

Other bits I keep from these Briggs are the starter cup and nut, the throttle control plate with the governor springs, the carb inlet tube and the breather tube. The last bit is I run the grinder through the crank and cut the blade boss off and use the press to push the bit of shaft out

Thanks NormK & bigted, that what I thought.
Curiosity, the mower I am going to offer him is a Viking 424 Q which has the same type of carby/fuel tank. Would this be compatible with the 375 or would the factory settings be different due to the difference in motor size.

hi buckets those b&s sprint engines are a cheap Chinese engine, not worth time or money spent to recondition it . cheaper to just buy a new sprint engine , check the prices on ebay for a new sprint engine around $160 most mower shops just repower mowers with these engines due to ease and cheap cost

Hi Buckets, in answer to your earlier question about the carby, I have mixed/matched/swapped countless numbers of these carbs and never had a problem
