Gday Wise Heads I found this Rex Supaswift 747 mower dumped in the car park of my kids' primary school. Kids want to do it up for their Mum. Love this as it fits with teaching them to fix and not just tip and buy new but... Can anyone help me with what model it is and where I can buy parts? It started no problem just with adding some petrol and a little in the air inlet. I'm near Nth Ringwood in Melb. Also some advice please. Is this beyond a basic bush mechanic? (I can change oil, bolt on blades and plugs, clean carby bowl perhaps but beyond that... not really) If so does anyone here want it? I'd be so happy to see it go to a good home. I'd hate to tip it. Happy even to deliver to anywhere in Melb within a reasonable arc of Ringwood to Eltham Also I'm not sure if it suits as their Mum only needs a tiny mower as her lawn is only about 4m2 and ideally light and easy to start. This mower does need a bit of a hefty pull. There are always more free mowers on nature strips! If I repair it the first thing it needs is some blades. But I can't find anything like them on eBay or Bunnings. So if you can point to good sites or places for parts, especially blades that would be great. The existing ones, branded UTA, are in very bad condition. ( I don't want them anywhere near my kids!) See pics they measure (approx 1mm margin for error): length 117mm width 41 mm The have 15mm dia round hole to mount them which is about 13mm from the end of the blade The bolts have a square 1/4 or perhaps 5/16 section on the shank which matches the inside of the mounting flanges that allow blades to rotate. They are "cupped" at the mounting end. It will also need a replacement air cleaner housing but I guess aftermarket on eBay? Can I use for a new plug anything that fits a B+S 4hp engine also via Ebay? Thanks for your help! Ok sorry first post and the B&S engine number pic has flipped? So you don't have to read upside down it is: MODEL TYPE CODE 110908 1188-01 83072004

G'day Nick-SThis is a new one on me - Fowlerrex Supa-Swift. It is a modern iteration of the Supa-Swift Hi-arch. The blade holder and blades are not Supa-Swift. That is a universal blade holder with UTA blades. Try https://www.gaspares.com.au/However, my first call would be to: Rosanna MowersContact details (03) 9457 2330 They should be able to tell you whether the holder and blades were original fitments. Hope this helps. --------------------- Jack

Supaswift actually did use this blade plate type; it's identical to the one on my 1985ish Big Bob, which I know to be factory original. As it happens to be off the mower ATM, here's a pic: Blade and bolt sets are available from the ODK Online Shop; https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/lawn-mo...-swing-back-blade-bolt-set-900174-900173Edit: And UTA is owned by GA Spares; it wouldn't amaze me if they were SupaSwift's OEM supplier. But wait and see if any other parts are needed, before placing an order - postage is the killer. Your engine is an 11 cu in, made on 20 July 1983. So it has the Magnetron electronic ignition, rather than contact points. One less thing to have to service!

Thanks Mr Jack Glad to pique your curiosity! Know anyone who'd love to own this mower?
That helps heaps re blades. I did try Rosanna mowers but seems they are gone. No website and only found one place that listed them with that number but 03 9457 2330 is disconnected.
Off to search GA Spares

Hi Gadge and Nick Many thanks to Gadge on this. It seems to show that Supa-Swift (after Jetfast) was acquired by Fowlerex. Maybe ...
Nonetheless, this is a generic bladeholder designed for different bolt and blade designs.
Many thanks Gadge to that ODK link. I think that blade design may be of Turner origin... It does not fit with the Supa-swift blades I know.
Nick, if you feel this mower is not suitable, list it in the 'For Sale' or 'For Free' forums.
Supa-Swift made great lawnmowers of quality.

Ok thanks heaps Mr Gadge I think you have found the exact blades. That raised part of the profile fits with the damage to the existing blades. And most amazingly they list the exact model! Thanks for the link to the ODK shop. That is great to be able to buy from here.
Looks like blades is the only part they do sell though for that mower. I'll get a sparkplug from them if I can. Then look on ebay for non oem aircleaner. But that still keeps it pretty original.
I don't suppose I can find or buy a catcher? Mr Gadge do you happen to know if the catcher for other more recent models might fit? But tis is not a big deal either way.
Many thanks Mr Jack for the info on the forums. I think I'll stick with it now I can get original blades though. Kids will be happy too! I'll give it away on here later if it ends up unused. I just meant if there was someone who collected them with a passion then I'd give it to them.
Many thanks for all the help!
Regards Nick

To me that air cleaner hose and assembly looks like it's off a Victa 2 stroke which uses a paper cartridge filter and for that one it looks like it would be the small one. Though missing the top unless you have that loose somewhere.

Yes, those blades were originally a Turner design; that turned up flange is a unique design feature. Nick-Sibbing, the best way to find a catcher is to keep an eye out around tip shops, hard rubbish collections, etc. So that you know what to look for, there are some good pics of the quite distinctive 747 catcher in this past thread; https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/62473/all.html

Jack Actually 2 may be a coincidence but my Superswift toecutter with a Yamaha engine has this blade holder too. 3 different models with the same blade holder speaks to something else I think. Pete.

3 different models with the same blade holder speaks to something else I think. Yes, but certainly not an original holder when Supa-Swift was run by the Swift foundry. It's pretty clear that later associations used different components. ---------------------- Jack

If it fits and it works and is safe, then use it.

With the Boeing SupaSwift 767 I found recently, a Rover catcher seemed to fit on satisfactorily (not perfectly) and a Victa steel deck catcher stays on but with massive openings either side of the rear flap.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

I find there seems to be some variations in the Rover catchers or maybe it is that the ones I have are not all Rover, but I find that with a bit of flap modification I can usually get them to fit on the high arch alloy chassis. I think the biggest killer of most of the High arch Victas is the catcher gets broken and nobody wants a mower without a catcher so they get scrapped. Pity because the alloy base way outlasts the steel bases

Why do those Victa thumb latch catchers crack so easily? I spent over an hour cutting tin pieces to shape and repairing one I found. It now does it's job but has rivets showing all around the entry point.

I guess they didn't have the plastic combination right and time has also taken its toll. I don't bother with them if they are damaged, I run the grinder through them and straight in the bin

Lucky I have a couple that are crack free. The rest (4) have been patched by previous owners or me.

Pity because the alloy base way outlasts the steel bases I was wondering, can a PT be made to mount on one of the older alloy high arch bases that took the B&S four? EDIT: This is a SupaSwift topic so this will be my last post on this tangent from myself. Sorry.

I have done it but can't remember what work it entailed, from memory not a strait forward swap, but the head does clear the height adjuster
