Hi,

I recently bought a second-hand 16HP Vanguard, 34" fastcut? The guy that I bought it off said that the previous owner had updated the body to the 50th anniversary model, but said that it was a fast cut.

The engine number is: (Model)303777; (Type)1174-E1; (Code)04030211. This engine seems to be the original with about 600 hours.

He gave me a spare drive belt that has the number: GTO2369. This may help identify the model, but the previous owner may not really know what model it is.

All up, there are 2 clutch pulleys, 2 vertically mounted pulleys below the clutch pulleys, and 2 idler pulleys towards the front of the body.

Thanks

if the engine is the original, then it's an 03 Fastcut, which is the current model.
The 50th anniversary model was made in 2013 if i recall right to celebrate
the Greenfeild / Briggs relationship, which ran a 30hp twin , red paint and a jolly big
chrome sticker, ( just like yours...) , yours originally would have looked like the pic
on the belt slip.

Hi Squizzy,

Thanks a lot for this information. You are saying that it's a 2003 Fastcut, or like an Evolution Mrk3? Is mine just called a fastcut or an E3000 etc?

Thanks

hi Felichan, yours is a Fastcut 34, possibly called a Fastcut Deluxe? , as the 32"
where called standards.
You have the diff lock and bigger wheels which is fitted to the 34" cut, and the park brake lever
on the left side would confirm its a Fastcut.
make sure you understand how the park brake works as its not the normal pads on
disc, rather a rod through the sprocket...
these are the best Greenfield yet, so enjoy!!

Thanks alot for that Squizzy:)

Good to know that I got a good model.

It's funny that you mentioned... I just did a repair myself on the rod,
as it had popped out of the guide rail (or somebody didn't put it back). It was coming incontact with the left clutch Pulley once engaged, which was making a light grinding sound. I tightened some bolts at the back of the rod and tightened the clamps that squeeze on the disk on the right-hand side wheel which stopped all noise. It was pretty easy to fix.

I'm looking to replace the mounted bearing on the front left-hand side idler pulley as the original had seized and caused the item in the picture provided to wear down and fall out. Do you know where I can get a manual for this model of mine?
