Hello CaptrustyI think that is a great idea. Perhaps the bulb could emanate from the plug hole, and the power lead from the magneto? ... Or the lamp is the flywheel ... ? Someone is making a living out of Vespa lamps... And I found a Villiers one ... Cheers ----------------- Jack

Great idea, I saw the Villiers one on EBay. I have enough worn/seized parts to have a go at one.

Perhaps you could use a second cutter disc as a shade? Paint it white on the underside to spread the light.

Both good ideas Jack though I'm unsure if I'll put a cowl on if I did that I'd likely cut a slot and Louvre the tank on front and both sides to project light out of that . Vespa one is pretty cool though my taste would lean more to some ape hangers with all the controls and mirrors etc or early bsa or Indian .
Saves a bit of still some what probably maybe not usable stuff Paul so I say why bin it give it a new life.
Not a bad idea Trev I have some brass threaded rod I could use in the blade mount holes to hold it up would look pretty flash polished topped with brass dome nuts

Very interesting idea Captrusty. That has given me an idea with a briggs engine that I have painted up for display. I could put a lamp on it through the plug hole as it has no piston.

Well the added bonus is it's a slightly cunning way of storing mower parts inside the house too lol
Just need to think of more items of "furniture" I can make out of mower parts

Here's a radical idea. Why not use it to power a lawn mower instead? There are some modern 4 strokes that should be used as a boat anchor.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Here's a radical idea. Why not use it to power a lawn mower instead? Nah, anyone could do that! Here's another very well executed 'classic Victa furniture' project; https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/u.../all/My_Victa_18_Special_Coffee_Tab.html There are some modern 4 strokes that should be used as a boat anchor. Plenty of older ones in that class, too - those that have survived, anyway! Most of the vertical shaft mower engines made by James N. Kirby & Co have long since gone to scrap... It's the two-strokes that have kept on going, albeit some of them are like unto the legendary 'grandad's axe'.
Cheers, Gadge

G'day all Yep, I agree with Gadget on this one. Life is pretty straight without a twistie. I have been fascinated by the new art-form of Steam Punk, perhaps the most radical and creative use of old machinery. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SteampunkBut I love the simple, practical re-uses of machinery too ... I hope we get to see a Victa engine light completed on ODK. I look forward to Captrusty's finished creation. ---------------------- Jack

Nothing to stop this motor going back into service one day have no use for it at present unless I can find a good model 2 chassis to put it on. Also gives me storage room to bring something else back from scrap. It's also a good way to preserve it from rotting away in the back yard . Should be finished by next weekend waiting to pick up a few parts to finish it off .

G'day Hermosil and arty types
I love it! I feel your interpretation is closer to the steampunk style. That last image is fantastic - from Kelvinator to Kitch!

Thankyou for the comments. CyberJack I will have to take a picture with the lava lamp illuminated. Captrusty they are a tillotson and a zenith. They came from my Father in laws place. I believe that they came off some trucks of some kind. By the way the clock was a wedding present back in 1929 and it still goes quite well.

Definitely make things likes clocks like the use to you or anything for that matter. Gone as far as I can with the lamp till I can find a light socket I like and wire it all up. Added some dome nuts to make it look a bit nicer . ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/04/full-11099-33877-imag0021.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/04/full-11099-33878-imag0038.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/04/full-11099-33879-imag0039.jpg)
