Hello CaptrustyThese 1960s Victa seem to be coming more popular. We are talking from about 1963-64 on wards for this style. The crankcase numbers might reveal more information. These are nice mowers to use. Cheers------------------ Jackp.s. I always look for symbolism in images. I note the cigarette packets and butts. Maybe this Victa was a heavy smoker that tried to stay healthy by drinking bottled water.

I'll have a look for the engine # when I get a chance but it starts first pull runs very well and made easy work of the yard felt tempted to toss the rover which use to have regular mowing duties over the back fence.
Well some truth to the symbolism wasn't sure on how long it had been last run so I may or may not have thrown a touch extra oil in for good measure and killed all the mozzies withing 50kms. It had requested lowfat diet water on the ride home but I insisted the full fat water had more flavor.
PS kids had a field day in the garage can usually see the floor they just thought the washing and the bin needed to get better acquainted

Some progress has been made finally got it pulled down and started getting it ready for paint . ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/04/full-11099-33782-imag0007.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/04/full-11099-33783-imag0008.jpg) The base isn't in too bad has some pitting along where the rails are I'm guessing from where the grass and muck would accumulate but other than that looks pretty good.

Excellent job. You have made great head way.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Only plan on giving the engine and wheels a good scrub as its going straight back into duty when it's done.
Need to find another height adjuster for it or repair this one broke off the bit that engages the plate

Little more progress in the few brief moments of spare time I've had painted and reinstalled the rear stone guard and lower handle bars. Only have upper bars and fuel tank to paint once it's repaired reinstall the pull start and take it for a hot lap on the weekend hopefully. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2017/04/full-11099-33931-imag0043.jpg)

That's going to attract stares as you cut the grass with it.

That bone white with the racing red is quite a combination.

Was planning on having the handle bars more of a cream color but dulux had other ideas turned out alot brighter than it really should have not really a bad thing but not quite what I had in mind.

I've got a utility in the scrap heap with the same style adjuster but someone straightened the handle. Could send it to you if you want it and maybe you can make one out of two.

Now that's an idea might mask it up a little later and see what it looks like may paint the tank red then other wise might look a little weird with a white one

Mate that's just awesome it broke the red just nice.I'd run those stripes over the base as well.I reckon it would just make it pop. You've even got me thinking about doing something like that now.I might do something though with a VC-160 or VC-Mustang.Awesome work keep up the good work.

The cowl looks like a giant lolly ( looks good though) and Bumbly I think racing stripes wouldn't work on a hi arch mower, maybe on a steel decked model. You might be able to pull it off if done carefully, who knows. You could try Photoshop first.

I was planning on the base too was just playing with ideas on the cowl it's fairly rough job so will sand it respray and add the same to the base at the same time.

The only thing is Mowerfreak I don't actually have a spare one yet,but I do have a vision in my head, and I think it would work.I mean, sorry I do have a spare VC-Mustang but I think a VC-160 would work better.I'll have a think on that but it has inspired me.

Why not paint a VC160 mkIII base in red along with the badge surround like that one you saw in my old line up shot? It looked awesome. Wish I hadn't sold mine.
