Just noticed this classic Dennis mower for sale. Seller or in ally wanted $1750, but has now dropped price. If only I lived nearby or was able to ship it cheaply to Victoria.

Hello ballarinelawns

This is one for the record. Many thanks.
These are highly collectable and prized here and overseas.

Similar to the model shown here:-

Hi Mod CJ and ballarinelawns,

WOW !!!!!!!!

I'm glad I don't have to flog that around my lawns. With the size of that fuel tank it must have a 350 Chev powering it.

All I can say is "what an awesomely heavy piece of machinery" and I can see why they usually had the trailing seat as the optional extra with them.

This would most certainly have been an Ex sporting ground machine that come into private hands. If it could talk I'm sure it could tell us lots of interesting stories, that's for sure

Cheers,
BB.

BTW these are the other remaining photos from the listing which I thought it good to put up here on the site as the listing will eventually be pulled and then nothing will be visible.

The Brits love these for mowing cricket pitches and tennis courts.

Even the older models are often worth refurbishing; there's at least one company specialising in Dennis, Ransomes and Webb refurbs - post WW2 only though. http://www.oldlawnmowers.co.uk/

The Dennis company is still very much operational too - http://www.dennisuk.com

Cheers,
Gadge

G'day all

Too few larger machines come up for auction in this country.
The Dennis was a respected name from when the Dennis Brothers
made them in the 1920s.

Yes, they are from the Dennis Fire Engine fame.
I hope this goes to an ODK member.

The company, today, is still in private hands, but it has
no real connection to the original founding family.

Today, Dennis remains a leading professional lawnmower maker.
