Hello ODK History Lovers
Rover Mowers was a Queensland icon for lawnmowers in its halcyon days.
Yet little history has been recorded about the founder and the early models.

This is a short � and incomplete � record for the Rover Economy, introduced
for the 1961-62 lawnmowing season. My best guess is that it sold for a
couple of seasons.

The Economy, as the name implies, had a De-luxe Sister, oddly named � the
Rover De-luxe of the following season.

PART TWO - Parts List
It was the finding of a Parts List that gave me a name to this Rover.
The Parts List was in good condition and I make it available for personal use.

Of particular note is the single point height adjuster (delivered by a rotary
screw at the rear), and the option of a �conversion plate� for making available
2 and 4 stroke power units.

I have only one set of images of the Rover Economy.
The machine is owned by Derek Myers and the machine
first appeared on Vintage Mowers: Buy Swap & Sell.

Of particular note is the Villiers Lightweight 4-stroke engine.
Note the lack of a remote throttle - all on board - to save money.

The images show an unusual green hammer finish to the base, and note
the 'Rover' is stenciled on. All very ... 'economical'






NORTHGATE FACTORY
The Northgate factory decal is important.
This was the first factory, before Rover established itself at nearby Eagle Farm.
