The Victa Powertorque that I use to cut our lawns has been a little harder to start of late. It will eventually run and with no problems but it takes 7 or 8 pulls (also more pumps of the primer button) rather than the 1 or 2 that it use to need a few months ago. Air filter was a little dirty so cleaned that, the mower seemed to respond a little but I suspect the primer button may be the problem.

There is no deterioration that I can see on the primer button. When I've tested primer button on Briggs and Stratton engines you can remove the air filter and see whether the primer is pushing fuel out where it's suppose to go, can't see how you do this on your typical Victa 2 stroke. By the way I have changed the spark plug as well.

G'day tiger

I hope a member will chip-in about this.

I am no expert on this, but I find it ironical that one of the 'features'
of the original G4 design was that it was intended to be prime-less.
Within a short time that was changed to the carby having a primer.

All very interesting.

Hi Tiger, Jack and fellow ODK members.
The easiest way to check the primer on a 2 stroke is to remove the primer face from the carby, cover the hole on the back side of the primer with your finger and press the primer. If it depresses fully and doesn't build up a little pressure in the bulb it's more than likely leaking and will need replacing.
Hope this helps.
