Giday i have a new (20hrs) Cub Cadet slt1554 with a hydro transmission. I am more than happy with the mower so far but I don't feel very confident about the trans. I'm not to bad on mechanical stuff but I'm very green when it comes to hydro transmissions. Are they any good reliability wise, do you have to be careful and not overload them. I think they might be expensive to replace. Are they the weak link on the mower.
Thanks Olboy.

Olboy,

The Hydro transmission depending on the brand are usually fairly good. All you need to do is just use it like a manual car, when driving forward you do not attempt to put it in reverse otherwise you will have an expensive repair.

What I am getting to is that when using hydro you treat it with care because if you think that when driving forward you can go straight into reverse without causing problems then think again. It will not happen straight away but in time you will have problems. cheers2

The cruse control on my mower won't engage at top speed. The manual indicates that this is the way they are made. Why is this so. Most of my paddock is easy going so I end up using the foot pedal to make it go faster. Am i doing damage to the transmission by running it flat out for an hour or so?
Thanks Olboy
