Thanks for sharing the videos and recording this engine.
That this engine was used on a washing machine is unusual in AUS.
In the USA they were extremely popular with rural America prior to
electrification. To find any petrol-powered washer here is not common.
In Amplion advertising here, the engine was a general purpose, but ads
refer to pumps, saws, milking, honey extractors, compressors, sprayers,
separators, grinders, generators, lawnmowers, but no ... washers.
I don't know why. It may be that rural Australia prior to WWII simply
did not have the wealth - that a working class nation could not do this...?
Amplion engines only became available post WWII when rural Australia was
becoming 'electrified'. Maybe the market never existed here.
I know that Briggs and Maytag made specific washer engines, but I cannot find
specific reference to this application in this country.
Any thoughts?
