Hi I replaced a new rear carrier on my Victa 550 SP and the strange things happened...
For the normal working condition SP Victa 550, when SP cable is engaged, this stops rear wheels going backwards. What my mower does now, is when I engage SP cable, it stops rear wheels going forward....
I am thinking is there anything I have done wrong during the process of replacing the rear carrier?
Thanks

Hello detective007
I don't know this machine at all, but ... Is it possible you have the pawl pinions reversed. There is a left hand and right hand side (?).
Can any member help here?

Hello detective 007
When you said you replaced the 'rear carrier' what did you mean? Did you remove the rear wheels at all?

Hi Jack,
Rear carrier is what rear wheels connect to. Yes I stripped everything apart including both rear wheels
Thanks

it sounds like as Jack said , you have reversed the clutches they are left and right , the cog looking parts inside rear wheels it IS easily done as they look almost the same , try just swapping side to side complete . means clutch , key ,washer and all related parts .. meaning all the parts you see when you remove the wheels try to keep them matched up if you did already . its the only thing i can think of right now as its an easy mistake to make . hope it works out for you , Dave

Thanks vccommYou explained that better than I did. I found an illustration. There is a left-hand and right-hand spring in the drive carriers. Simply swap the drive carrier assemblies side-to-side. This is the most obvious explanation for what you have described. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2015/09/full-7392-23912-550sp_drive.jpg)

Hi I swapped cogs side to side and the SP function works as it should. Yes these two cogs are almost the same by just the looking of them, but they are small difference between them if look very closely, which affects the SP function.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Sorry to bother you again. Does the 550 SP gearbox need to be greased?
