I'd like some help with a mower i've not long purchased. It's a Scott Bonnar 17" Model 45 mower with a Briggs & Stratton 2.5hp unit, mower number 08098. The guy i bought it from told me it ran on straight unleaded ?. After running for a while it runs quite rough. The plug is covered in dry carbon also, maybe indicating a rich mix, surely it needs an oil/pertol ratio ? Any help about the fuel for this mower would be very appreciated, Thanks Shawn in Perth.

ommerum,

Check your air filter is clean first and make sure that you are not running it on choke.

The motor runs on unleaded fuel not two stroke fuel.

It has a sump like a car where the oil is kept.

We have an owner manual in the parts list and manuals area of this forum that will help with all the details of the mower. cheers2

Thanks for your Help Bruce, I've soaked the plug in petrol to remove the carbon, cleaned the air filter as suggested and all is better. I found the accelerator cable needed re-positioning so to allow more rpm and it seems to run better now at a higher rpm. Thanks again and keep up the good work... Shawn in Perth.
