Hi all I am chasing the parts list for the rover sx4000 engine, I have got myself yet another one with a mangled governor plate assembly, straightening them out only lasts for so long and I will not put my name on a machine that will only last a little while.





Some pics for reference, worst case I bolt on a Briggs and Stratton and shelve the engine as while it is running it's pretty powerful.

I had issues with one a while ago and needed a sump gasket and bottom seal for one of these. I haven't seen a parts list for them but my local mower shop (Australian mower supply) was fairly helpful and must have had a parts list coz they got the part number(s) and the parts for me.
Another option would be to get the governor assembly off another chonda like a Sanli or similar, or even a honda if you've got one lying around, and swap it over. It's worked for me in the past and the rover/scotty has to be one of the worst designs for a choke/governor setup

So far I haven't encountered a chonda that changes the base engine from the Honda design, and generally there is no trick to putting genuine Honda parts on anywhere you don't like the chonda ones. So far as base engine parts are concerned, the chonda parts are usually just as good as the Honda ones at a fraction of the price.

Of course most of us don't have an unlimited supply of proper Honda governor linkages, but it is the best solution rather than replacing a poorly designed and made chonda linkage with another equally bad one. Perhaps one of the chonda manufacturers uses a decent linkage - roebuck would know, he's the guru on overhauling chondas.
