I am trying to keep me restoration on my early Rover Ranger as original as possible. I need to know where can I get new tyres from. The originals are a square shape, ie, looking at the tyre from the front or back of the mower coming from the rim the sides are vertical and the ground contact face is flat. All I can get at least locally are tyres that are meant for a wheelbarrow which have a rounded ground contact face. The front tyres are a 4.10-6 and the rears are a 4.00-8. Does anyone have any ideas ?

Cliff, If it is the old Rover Ranger that has the chrome handle for steering the part number for the tyre is A01324. I will have to look around for the same type of tyre and it could take until next week if I can get one.

Thanks Bruce I dont recognise the part number from my Rover parts listings. Is the part No A01324 for the front or the rear tyres, and yes, the machine has the chrome/aluminium knobs on the gear stick and hand brake lever.

Cliff, Can you post a picture of the machine on the forum. Usually the model number is located on the main frame near the motor (left or right side). It is on a silver plate which is pop riveted on.

Bruce
I have submitted pictures of my Rover Rancher in the Photo area or I hope they went in. I think the reason the tyre part number is not on my listing is I incorrectly called the machine a Rover Ranger when in fact I believe it should be called a Rover Rancher. Hope all this makes sense.

Cliff, The ride on looks like a Rover Rancher 2 and the tyres at on the front are a rib Pattern tyre part number A00791(13 x 5 x 6) and the rear tyres are a Block Pattern part number A07535 (16 X 6.50/7.50-8). These tyres are available.

Bruce Yes those part numbers make sense. Would you know where I can obtain the tyres (front and back) and an approximate cost each ?. Note-I believe the front right hand tyre is the only original tyre left on the machine. I replaced the 2 rear tyres and the front left hand tyre is non original. Would you know roughly when this mower was built. The engine is a 1987 model but I feel the mower is earlier than this. I am basing this thought on a comparison with my 88 model Bolens ST140 hydro and my 82 model Victa 5/26 ride ons. Both these other mowers appear to have much more "technology" than the Rover and this is why I thought it may be earlier than 87.
