hi just joined this site and what a good one,irecently inhearated a rover ranger ride on model number5144 serial number 3690208 with a Tecumseh engine number TVM195150051HSER2103D I don't know what the capacity of the engine or H/P I think its a ranger as it thas the tiller type handle bar steering,its hammertone blue or it used to be its got the gear selector on the L/H side on a gate set up and its not marked if is got 3 forward and a reverse gear but il suspecting it dosent have reverse the friction drive is nearly all gone on the outside edge its only thick enough forit to move very slowly and its got grooves in the rest of the pully where it makes contact for 2nd and 3rd gear

I read some where on here earlier that you could buy them on an online store reconditioned but it didn't say where the online store is I imagine its a very common problem and being old its hard to get the friction drive pully when I finaly get it off il take it to a brake n clutch joint to see if they can rebond a new one back on buy I bet it would be expensive as it had no spark when I got it I disconnected the ground wire off the carby to make sure that wasent stopping it changed the plug still no spark so I removed the fly wheel filed cleaned and regapped the points got the rust of the magnets n cleaned the rust of the coil and inside of flywheel yea got spark cleaned out fuel tank and carby got it running bloody hard yakka as its got some compression it had a rats nest in thetop cowl and all the fins on the head n barrel were totally cloggfed with mud wasps nests never seen any thing like it the pull start wasent engaugeing so when I had the cowl off I cleaned the wasp nest from arund the starter pawls sprayed them wit wd40 now works perfectly im hopeing I can resolve the friction drive prob as its still a good mower for its age
