I picked this old F.E.Myers & Bro pump up a while back and thought I might put up what I have done so far, when I got it (should have taken some pics before I split it) it had a siezed shaft, how it works is (gear box side) it has two con rods that each attach to a sliding sleave that runs up & down on a vertical shafts, on the other side (wet end) the other side of the sleaves are attached to the rods that go to the pump pistons. well one of these sleaves was locked solid, a lot of soaking, heating, soaking, heating, well you get the guist, I managed to get it free over a couple of days, I had to disasemble a lot of it to do this but it has to all come apart anyway, so I will post some pics up for you to check out, I am unsure of the vintage of the pump but the last Patent marked on the body is Sept 29 1925, so ???? any help would be great.

First is a pic of another pump all together to show you what it looked like before I pulled it apart, the only difference is the pullys, mine has a 3 A size V belt pully.




I am missing one cover as below but does not effect the pump.



This is my pump in original condition but partly disasembled.








Body of the pump Gearbox wire brushed ready for paint.




Then some etch primer applied.






Then some silver paint and some red writing.

Well thats about all for now, I think at this stage I will power it with my JAP 4/3 engine,

I really like seeing this 'farm stuff' restored, and what a great job!
A quick search showed that some of these pumps were made in OZ under licence.

I now know what a Myers Orchard pump looks like.
I hope you find that cover to finish your restoration.

Thanks Jack, I do have to spend more time at the Trove site to learn how to use it better, the one on Ebay I would love to get but these things are bloody heavy, took me and my mate (both big lads) to lift it onto the tray of my ute so I would not even ask as to how much it would cost to frieght it to Tassy, but as the Trove search showed most of the articals are from Tassy, suppose because of the apple growing etc, so will not be beyond getting the required cover hopefully, even though it makes for better viewing without it as you can see the workings.

Yes, Trove is a great primary research site - but with limitations that can distort things.
In this case, though, you have made a significant point I missed - the indication that these
machines were more heavily advertised in Tassy post 1925. I like your explanation too!

Could you make a Perspex/plastic cover - for display purposes?

First up is the pump lid back and front after it came out of the electrolyisis tank with just a hose down, then a couple with it etch primed after a wire brush.






have the rest of the pump in the Molasses tanks so will be a couple of weeks but you know
