Hi to All,
I have come across a good tip for cleaning up Victa cylinder heads, particularly between the fins, where baked on crud is present.

The easiest way to clean in between the fins is to spray it with 'Mr Muscle' oven cleaner all over the area, let it sit overnight.

Grab yourself an old toothbrush and grind a couple of mm off each side of the toothbrush head with a suitable grinder until it fits in snugly between the fins and brush all that cooked-on crud straight off.
If any crud is left, repeat the process until all is clean.
This really seems to work, and saves time! wink

Deejay, we have a fairly detailed thread on cleaning aluminium:

https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=30589&Searchpage=1&Main=6321&Words=%22oven+cleaner%22&Search=true#Post30589

Oven cleaner eats away much of the crud, but oxidises the metal. I think there are better alternatives.

I can't publish the before and after pics because of copyright, but the result was brilliant....the trick is, you don't leave it on too long.
That's my two bob's worth.... wink
