Hi guys,
I have a Victa V40 engine leaking petrol from the carburettor bowl. This engine has a Chinese (disposable) Ruixing carby. Do you know what gasket kit suits this carby? It looks like most Ruixing units are just copies of popular Walbros etc.
Thanks for helping,
Max

Max, as I understand it the V40 is a Chonda copy of a Honda engine, but I do not know which model. In genuine pushrod Hondas, GXV120 is 118 cc, GXV140 is 135 cc, GXV160 is 163 cc. The Chonda I have is 163 cc, and is very similar to a GXV160. The Ruixing carburetor it uses is a close copy of the Keihin BE66C carburetor used on the GXV160. Having said all that though, the V40 is not the same as my Chonda: the V40 does not have "OHV" pressed into the rocker cover, as both real GXV engines and my Chonda do. (The letters run horizontally on a real Honda, and vertically on a Chonda).

The main point here is that your Ruixing is fairly sure to be a copy of the Keihin used on the equivalent genuine Honda. If you take your Ruixing gaskets to a Honda dealer you can compare them with the Keihin ones that come in little plastic Honda bags.

Incidentally if it is leaking fuel from the top of the float bowl, rather than around the securing nut at the bottom of the float bowl, the carburetor is flooding and the problem is not with the float bowl gasket. You will need to clean the needle and seat area. You will also need to flush out the fuel tank, clean the filter (in the fuel hose where it attaches to the tank), and flush the fuel hose and fuel tap. If your particular Chonda does not have a fuel tap (mine doesn't) it would be a good idea to install one. Gravity feed fuel systems without taps inevitably cause flooding problems while the engine is stored between uses.

Just to add detail to this thread, here are four different Chondas copied from the Honda GXV160:

If your Chonda happens to be 163 cc you might recognise it among these, each of which seems to come from a different manufacturer. These and other manufacturers also build some of the other Honda engines, both horizontal and vertical crankshaft, various capacities, etc. At the moment I think visual identification may be the most practical way of figuring out who made your engine, which is usually the first step toward trying to get hold of an owner manual, or even perhaps a parts list.

In case anyone cares, my Chonda is a Rato RV160, and it is on a Ryobi RPW2400 pressure washer. I do not think Ryobi made any part of the machine themselves. And yes, I did manage to find an owner manual for the engine, but not a parts list so far. As far as I can tell, nobody sells the parts anyway, so perhaps that doesn't matter.

Those two seem to both have the same starter and fuel tank, but very different air filter housings, top covers and mufflers (all of which are simply bolt-on bits). It would be interesting to gather and compare some identifications from the cylinder/crankcase and cylinder head castings. Some of them would probably be on die inserts and therefore label-specific, but some may be fixed parts of the gravity-casting die, and therefore would be unique to the actual manufacturer.
