This is my first post here so please be nice :-)

A friend gave me a Victa mower which she found on the nature strip during a council hard rubbish collection, so history is unknown and it seems to be missing some decals identifying the model.

What I can tell you is as follows:

There is no facility for a catcher. It discharges grass from the side.
It is two stroke.
On the cylinder head is written EN72515A.
It has two blades and if the blades were not extremely worn it would appear to be an 18 inch cut.
Pull start.

I have spent hours searching for pictures but cannot find anything.

I also need to buy new blades (it takes two). What should I buy?

It also blows a bit of smoke. What can be done about that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi david18 and welcome to our forum. You will find we can help on most things. I'm not too sure on exactly what you are trying to describe. If you could upload some pictures we maybe able (I'm sure of that)to help you identify what exactly it is.

Sounds like a victa utilty of some sort

Pics would still be handy.


You can get blades from any mower shop or bunnings (only the ones for the late model).
Be sure and check the blade disc for cracks or damage.
I would also reccommend removing the old blades before buying new ones.

To me this sounds like a utility from the later half of the 70's, or possibly even early 80's.

If you cant provide a picture, perhaps we can narrow it down anyway:

1) Is the deck pressed steel, or cast alloy?
2) Is the starter on top of the engine, or on the side?
3) Plasic carby (throttle cable inside air hose?)
4) Where is the fuel tank?
5) can you describe the top cover (cowling?)

In order to help correctly identify your machine, we need you to post some pics preferably from different angles. This will be good for the forum archives.

Pressed metal.

2) Is the starter on top of the engine, or on the side?
Top.

3) Plasic carby (throttle cable inside air hose?)
Cable inside air hose.

4) Where is the fuel tank?
It is part of the top moulding (cowl).

5) can you describe the top cover (cowling?)
Overall it is rectangular in shape with a rectangular grid pattern on top. It incorporates the fuel tank.

OK then it is a power-torque engine.It must be some kind of Victa Utility.I take it you couldn't post some pictures? As far as the smoke it would be a 2-stroke so that could mean a few things to much oil in fuel,carby has got dead oil sitting there,the list goes on.I don't think you have anything rare but fixed up you could get some reasonable dollars,depending on condition that is.I guess that's why everybody has been asking about pictures.It's like the saying a pictures is worth a thousand words.I hope that has helped you.

Well, I was a little off, That's a Utility from the late 80's or early 90's, I'll do a dig, and get some paperwork up here for you!

Yes you were and I was on the money.I thought you would have got it from the engine number? Your silly Ty.I knew what he had I just needed a little more info.Yes well it is the same as the one in my second picture.In a lot better condition,fixed up and running properly you should (If you are going to sell) get around the $200 mark for that one.It does look in great condition.

On closer inspection, it might actually be newer still, late 90's or even just before the moved to the Chinese engines across the range in the early 2000's.

Hiding between the cylinder and the carby, you should find a seriries of numbers, 2 digits slightly off to the side will tell us the year.

also, if there is a sticker on the cap of the air filter, the number on that will help.

There are three numbers punched in a vertical line reading "090". Does that sound like what you are looking for? Also, no stickers on the air filter.

Possibly in a oval raised casting.

FYI, I have decided to sell this mower and it is now in the For Sale Forum. (The man-cave is out of space....).
