My Victa 4013HXT (Dual cutter deck) has broken the Alloy bearing housing that holds the cutter deck drive shafts (coming down from the belt pulleys). Can anyone tell me if they are replacable at an affordable rate (and if so what are they worth?). If they aren't affordable I am considering manufacturing replacement parts from steel so the same thing doesn't happen again. Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Regards Rob

Rhino, Most of the Victa ride-on mowers were made by murray, so I would suggest that you check with your local mower shop as it should only cost about $150 for a complete housing.

With a hydraulic transmission, if you lose drive usually the first thing to check is the fluid level in the transmission. If it isn't that, the signs are ominous.

How do you check the fluid level as there seems to be no access to the transmission?

As far as I know, some systems are sealed and others have a fluid tank with a cap. The best starting point is the mower's manual, but there does not seem to be a 4013 manual in the Victa list on this site. Bruce can probably help - for one thing he probably knows the manufacturer's model number (rather than the Victa model number).

You can get some fragmentary information here: http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=murray&mn=40563x88A+Lawn+Tractor+%281998%29&dn=7634&dzl=14
I found it useful: I now know that you have a belt drive mower, for instance, and it probably wouldn't be all that hard to find the manual for another Murray mower that looked similar if not identical.

Quite possibly the 4013HXT has a peerless Hydrostatic Transmission. Check for a model number on the case of the hydro. If it does there is some good help on working on it but many mower shops only want to sell you a new one since working on it can take quite a bit of time. My Victa is a 4616HXT aand while it is a murray clone it was made in the NOMA factory instead of the murray.
