Rover Rancher - Poor Belt Life

I have a Rover Rancher (tiller steering) and get very poor belt life because of the poor alignment of the cutter deck and motor drive pulleys. I have added another spring to the front to increase belt tension but the belt eventually rolls and it is then stuffed. Any advice on improvements?
