Hi there some pictures would help immensely as there are several mtd models of that size, it can get almost as confusing as trying to use a ford manual to fix a holden.

Sorry but im finding your lack of punctuation a bit hard to follow.
Specifics on the machine or pictures would go a long way.
You hit a stump. Id say thats the problem. Did you hit it with the engine??? Engine is probably not the problem. Easy to check, ears busted off the motor?? Bolts tight???
Id say Now the blade is slipping. Belt spins but the blade it is spinning is not going at the same speed as where it fixes on the spindle is loose or broken. Id assume its a triple blade setup. Or Hitting something with the deck you might have bent a mounting bracket moving the deck affecting belt tension. Or Hitting something and jambing up and spinning the belt has wrecked the belt, fit new belt. Or Its got an electric clutch and hitting something you jambed up the deck and the clutch has crapped out.
Bob.

sorry bob, for my lack of edumacation, the ride on is an mtd, about mid eighties. it has a 12hp motor, only two blades, and the blades are driven when the deck is lowered, straight of the pulley of the bottom of the engine , again I say my belief is something to do with an engine mount or the engine tilting under load causing a lack of tension any how im going to pull it out of the shed, and im going to take some photos, and if i can work it out, i will post them, thanks for your input.

well today ive pulled it out of the shed after about two years of thinking about it, cant rush these things they last longer that way no use, anyhow had the engine cowling up, looking intently and lowered the cutting deck , hey presto the engine tipped forward, a knowledgeable bloke suggested that some mtds had rubber mounted engine mounts sure enough i pulled one of the mounts out and no rubber surrounding the steel plug which fits into the second chassis which the engine is solidly mounted to the frame so i think its solved thanks for everyones help

My bad, i sounded a bit arrogant up there.
I wasnt aware that any ride on had a rubber mounted engine. Deck probably yanked the motor an tore them, they were probably soft from 20 years of oil soaking.
Try the shop here for the bits. You could try a local dealer. You could try eBay. You could try a US based online seller.
You could also sort out 4 spacers and solid mount the motor. It would be an option. But then they did it that way for a reason and it lasted 20 years and it took a hit to break them.
I would in no way accuse you of being un educated. How hard is it to read back through what you type and say it out loud, you can get a pretty good handle on puncutation, good enough that one almost continuious sentance the length of a paragraph becomes more easily understandable.
You might think i am being rude. I actually see it the other way. Bad punctuation is showing that you dont have the respect for the potential helper to put in a little effort to make it easier for them to help you.
Cheers, Bob.
