Hi,
I have had this Honda Lawn Mower since new (HRU194). It's running fine like it always has, starts first go, idles nicely, no smoke etc.
I do find that at times I would like it to rev higher. I am aware that it has a governor fitted but I feel that it is not revving high enough. What do I need to adjust to make this happen? Thanks Nathan

You can begin by making sure your governor is working correctly. The process for setting up the governor is as follows: 1. Loosen the governor arm pinch-bolt, and move the governor arm to fully open the throttle valve. 2. With the governor arm held in the fully open position, turn the governor arm shaft in the same direction as far as it will go using a small wrench across the flat on the shaft, and tighten the pinch-bolt. 3. Check to be sure the governor arm and throttle valve move freely.

Thanks for the reply. Every year I do the maintenance as per the handbook which includes the governor adjustment, tappet adjustment etc.
In the past, I have adjusted the governor by holding it in the fully open position just with my fingers but this time I used a pair of pliers which has provided a much better result. The RPMs have increased!. Thanks.

Glad it's sorted out, kew. That governor setting process seems to need more hands than one person has, which I think is why Honda describes it in so much detail. I'll close this thread. If any member wants to post to it again, just PM a moderator.
