Hi all
I have a leopard king cat 16hp ride on mower which has started to have trouble moving. The belts seems to be tight and the engine runs great. The mower will move with my 6year old daughter on it. But when i sit on it (90Kg) it doesn't move. Does anyone have any information they would like to share or if this has happened to anyone else. How did you fix the problem?

Thanks Tim

Hi Tim, welcome to Outdoorking. There seem to be three ways for us to help you solve your problem: find a manual for a King Cat Leopard, find someone who is familiar with the model, or sort it out from first principles. I don't see any King Cat manuals in the manuals section of this site, and I haven't found one on the internet either, but someone else may. If we have to go to first principles, it will involve you posting a lot of detailed photographs of the various parts of your mower's drive train. (At first glance, because you have said it does not have a belt-tightening clutch system, it sounds as if there is a mechanical clutch in the system somewhere, and it either needs adjusting or new parts, but that could be completely wrong: it may have a hydrostatic transmission, which either has low fluid level or is worn out.)

Let's see if someone has either a manual or experience with the model, before we try doing it the hard way. Meanwhile though, if you post a few basic pictures showing the transmission and the clutch linkage, it would help make this thread more useful to others in the future.

Hi Tim, and a warm welcome to the forum. We all like to learn new things and tinker here.
From a little research I've done I can tell you that the brand name is Kingcat and the model name of yours is the "Leopard". They also make a "Cheetah" and "Panther".

Here's some background info...Kingcat mowers are designed and built in New Zealand by HMF Mowers, a division of the Forlong and Maisey group of companies.

Kingcat was founded in Katikati, Bay of Plenty over 25 years ago. The aim then, as now is to design and build a range of ride-on mowers that stand apart from imported models by offering a long life, high productivity and low maintenance.

They do have a website, perhaps you could use the "Contact" page on the site and ask for a manual.
Hoping this helps, once again, :welcome:

This is a bit mystifying, Deejay:

http://www.fitzgeraldmotors.com.au/html/kingcat.html

Apparently Cox has a range of ride-on models called Kingcat.

Yes Grumpy, I saw that whilst I was having a look around...however the Cox Kingcat does not seem to have models named after the big cats...leopard, cheetah etc.
It is interesting tho, I wonder if Cox are making 'em under licence in Oz??
