I've never seen a petrol engine powered roller of less than about 2 feet diameter, and that 2 foot one weighed about a ton and was a professional item for rolling cricket pitches (long, long ago - it had been retired from use in 1958, and replaced by a bigger one with an electric motor). I've seen an unpowered heavy concrete roller only a foot diameter, and that was barely usable due to sinking into the ground (it weighed about as much as my old 20" cast iron roller). So, a wild guess: because small heavy rollers are really difficult to drag over soft ground, someone may have put an engine on one rather than increase its diameter.

Well, I have arranged to collect it tonight, so I will put up some pictures once I get home and work out what it is.

I was thinking from the way she wrote it that it would either be something like that, or that she is trying to describe a cylinder mower, either way, the age alone has my interest up.

She also has a 92 Victa for me, probably a 2 stroke, witch will be a Powertorque, so no where near as intriguing.

This is her description, wor for word:

"We also have a very old petrol driven lawn roller (think thats what it is anyway). It used to belong to my grandfather so would be maybe 50yo. It definitely needs a new home instead of being neglected in our garage, so you could have that as well if you like."

And here is what she added today:
"The lawnmower is a 1992 model victa, 2 stroke I think, still have the manual so you can have that.
Didnt look at the roller so not sure if it can be folded, but its not big, smaller that the mower, just a bit heavy."

Well, I will get photo's up of the rest of tonight's haul later, But first, Our mystery Item!!!

As it happens, 'Petrol Powered Lawn Roller' actually happens to be 'Electric Reel Mower'

Still, I'm pretty darn happy with this score, Looks to be in pretty immaculate condition too!!

I never thought I'd get to say it to a "dyed in the wool" Victa man, but it's good to welcome another Scott Bonnar owner to the forum!! lol
Good score there, Ty, even in the fuzzy pics, it looks completely original and mint... Well done that man!! grin

OK, here are the last two for now, I have taken the adds down, and decided to re-direct my efforts into more vintage equiptment, While the free collection adds can land some good stuff (Free adds got me the above electric Scotty, a 500 Twin, a Model 5, and 8) the amount of newer machines is huge, and since this is not where i want to focus my efforts, I really cannot justyfy the space lost to them all.

The last two are a Victa Rapier, that will most likely join the pile for Joe, and an incomplete 1970 VC-160 (MKI) witch will provide restoration parts for my collection.
