Great forum! I acquired an old Rover ride on about 12 months ago as my White ride on doesn't cut the mustard here and over the past few weeks Ive started work on her but I cant seem to identify the model which makes parts a tad hard to chase on the net. So heres what I know, Briggs and Stratton Eng # 130902 0173-01 7010260 Rear mount engine Handlebar steering 3 Fwd and 1 reverse gear Pull start only Colour looks like it was originally a Hammertone metallic light green similar to Ice mint ford colour. And ofcourse a Pic. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2010/12/full-2772-190-130420097288.jpg) I have already taken the steering apart and cleaned and re greased it so it now works. I gave the engine an oil change and a new plug Checked the cutting deck and blades and ive replaced the blades and fitted new bolts (I like my feet attached to the bottom of my legs lol) Ive given her about 4 hours of medium work and quit when she shredded the deck drive belt but this thing is phenomenal when its working although a tad underpowered when dragging my 110 kg bum around. The deck is rusty and has a fencing wire holding the rear of the deck to the brake assembly and when I find another deck belt im planning on removing this wire to see if I get a better cut but my only criticisms so far are that she is too small size wise for me and the engine is a tad small but the inspiration from so many of the threads here has got me on the path to restoring this old girl. So any help on identifying her and any doco on the engine and body would be great! Thanks in advance, Boffa Senior

Hi Boffasnr and aboard to the forum which I am very sure that we will be able to help you with the identification of your Ranger Handlebar Steering Model reference 5127, 5130, 5138, 5144, 5150, 5244, 5250, 5255 which is in the parts list and manuals area of the forum. The engine was manufactured in the 1970's so she is an old girl and better than most of the mowers around these days. The colour from memory is blue metallic. When I first started mowing many many years ago it was one of the first ride on mowers that I used commercially (what a great little mower it was). You can still get some parts for that mower ie clutch chains blades etc. Any questions you have just post on the forum and we will do our best to help.

Ok heres the update.
The cutting deck drive belt arrived today, looks a tad thin and I haven't fitted it as yet but @ $35 I cant complain.
As Ive been roped into help a mate im fitting the belt tomorrow and will do an hours work on the old girl before pulling her apart again next week for a tidy and respray.
Im a much happier bloke now I have some doco and this old girl is nice and simple so it shouldn't take long to do unless my MIG is crook AGAIN.
Pics as I take em.

Oh and a quick question while im here.
The issue is the Yoke assy which rides on a bearing and removes the drive train power from the white metal clutch.
The issue is this keeps popping off the shift bar where it adjusts.
Is there a method used to adjust this so this doesnt happen?
The keeper has a screw adjustment which is currently set to about 1/3rd from the top, do I keep experimenting or is there a tried n true method?
Ta,
Boffa

SO!
Ive fitted the belt and go to reassemble the drive assy off the clutch and the huge spring that holds the drive cradle to the bloody clutch is busted.......
Seems as the deck drive belt de laminated it caught the spring and tore it off the assy busting the loop on the end.
SO!
Off to Leongatha for a new one the day before cup day and that friday it arrives, much chunkier than the old one so now Ive got to fit the bugger.
Might even cure the problem with the yoke popping off the thrust bearing!
Pics, Rude words and skinned knuckle pics to come

Anyone know if it's still possible to get a friction disc for these. Mine's been running a treat but the disc is starting to get low.

It's like a little club, I too have one! My friction disc flogged out and couldn't find another so I decided to pull it off and get new friction material. Two big mistakes 1 When removing the disc I couldn't budge it at all so decided to use a ball joint fork to get it started. I tried this because the disc doesn't have a centre hole so a 3 jawed puller would pull on the disc centre not the crank. I did this rather than drill a centre hole in the friction material because I am certain it would have asbestos. When I used the fork it pulled the crank down and the motor developed a nasty squeak. I have no idea what this noise is so pulled the motor rather than destroy it. It was a sensational well cared for engine. 2 I got the local brake and clutch bloke to bond on some new friction material. Guaranteed it's the answer to the worlds problems and set me back $100. Didn't do a bloody thing. It slips and has no drive. Should have just a slab of bourbon cans instead!

Slash, must be the same material they use for the drum brakes on old Brit bikes, put the brake on and they speed up

Bloody think would work better with a handful of grease. I did try putting more pressure on it but no joy. It's "well rested" and worth some attention again soon. I was talking to the bloke I bought my first Simplicity from who wrecks a few mowers. He was more than happy to put an old not too flogged clutch in my hand and wish me luck.
