G'day, I have a Kubota D210 brushcutter, and I want to cut through some reeds on the edge of the river bank that are starting to take over, so was thinking if I would be able to get a blade attachment for it as the line just isn't up to the task. I realise that I need to be abit more carefull with a blade than the line. So couple of questions: Can a blade fit? What type should I get ie is plastic ones safer but will they do the job?
Thanks, Chris.

Hi Chris, Providing that the brushcutter is a straight shaft unit then a blade will fit but if it is a bent shaft you will need to use a plastic blade.

Thanks Bruce,
Yes it is a straight shaft with the nuckle(?) at the bottom.
How tough are the plastic blades, anyway? Do you reckon they would cut through the reeds? Lastly, are they a universal fit or do I need a specific one for the Kubota?
Thanks,
Chris.

Chris E, Usually with most brushcutters they have a step (approx 25mm dia) washer that the blade centre fits onto. I would suggest a saw type blade in order to cut the reeds with.

Thanks Bruce. Does that mean a normal circular saw blade may fit or is there a specific blade for the job? Thanks, Chris.

I ended up being given a plastic housing that has 3 platics swing out blades that has metal teeth on them which is made to suit brush cutters. Worked perfectly. Might need to try and track down new blades eventually.
